The Scottish Borders Archive and Local History Centre has been established at St Mary's Mill on the North Riverside Industrial Area, Selkirk, since 1984.  Housed within the Library Headquarters, the Centre for archives of Borders interest grew from a policy to provide essential resources for the study of local history under one roof.
For several years now, material has been gathered in an attempt to meet the demands of a growing band of local historians, scholars, genealogists and the casual enquirer.   The Centre provides the opportunity to consult a large reference collection of published local history material, and to progress from there to the study of the archives themselves.
